Amplify Your Impact—Without Burning Out

A digital membership where the world’s top community builders gather

You care deeply about building community, but right now, you’re doing it alone. You’re spinning your wheels, second-guessing your strategy, and piecing together advice that doesn’t quite fit. You give a lot to your members, and there’s not always somewhere to turn when you need support.

What you really want is a peer group that gets it, an expert you can ask real questions to, and a clear path forward, so you can stop guessing and start leading. We got you.

OUR WORK HAS BEEN FEATURED IN…

Who is this Community for?

The CMJ Community is for motivated, ambitious, open and ethical community builders. It’s for founders, service providers, coaches, and entrepreneurs with their own community; community managers working solo or as part of a team; and product, marketing, and social media specialists increasingly charged with community management responsibilities at their company, nonprofit, or association.

  • Your community can be pre-launch, very new, established, struggling, or going through (or in need of) massive changes

  • The CMJ Community is for you if you need strategic support launching, reinvigorating, or growing your community.

  • The CMJ Community is for you if you want blueprints, support, and resources directly from the CMJ team before, after, or instead of working with us in a custom consulting or training engagement.

  • The CMJ Community is for you if you’re concerned about the sustainability of your community and need access to proven resources, peers, and mentors who get it, as well as a brave space where you can practice and test-run your ideas.

  • The CMJ Community is for you if you care deeply about the challenging, rewarding work of bringing people together.

Meet your hosts…Carrie and The CMJ Group

Carrie Melissa Jones, founder of The CMJ Group, has been building online communities since the days of AOL chatrooms and web forums — and she’s brought that hard-won experience to brands like Airbnb, Discord, Google, and Microsoft. Named by Salesforce as one of three community experts to follow, she’s also the co-author of Building Brand Communities, a gold medal–winning book on creating authentic belonging and holds an M.A. in Communication with a specialization in digital belonging.

Inside the CMJ Community, Carrie shows up as your coach, not just a figurehead. She leads twice-monthly calls where you can ask real questions and get real answers, drawing from decades of field experience and research so you don't have to learn everything the hard way.

OUR COMMUNITY VALUES

Three diverse young people in a modern, digital environment interacting with holographic screens displaying maps, recipes, and social media profiles.

Everything we do in The CMJ Community is designed with our values at the heart:

Equity

We value fairness of ownership and access. We ensure that what we create properly credits and benefits its creators, and we offer accessible options for access.

Compassionate Candor

We proactively have hard conversations with care. We aren’t afraid to ask ‘dumb’ questions, and we avoid jargon. We are warm and approachable.

Relationality

We prioritize the quality of our relationships. We show everyone Unconditional Positive Regard.

EQUANIMITY

We prioritize our own mental stability and composure, knowing that if we are well, we can help others.

FAQs

  • Every community has its unique characteristics, BUT they all operate on the same foundational principles. You will learn these principles to meet the individual needs of your community. You will also have the opportunity to ask your specific questions during the bi-monthly coaching calls, which will be conducted by Carrie. So, yes, The CMJ Community can help with any unique, weird, and wild community challenges you may face. We have seen (almost) everything, so you can count on us to provide the support you need.

  • You will waste more time spinning your wheels than if you join a community and get support - so this is going to save you SO much time. And, you don’t have to participate in everything the CMJ Community has to offer in order to get a huge benefit. Even just showing up to co-working sessions alone, for example, might give you the accountability you need to take your community to the next level.

  • Absolutely! Our membership includes the Launch Your Community Course (or you can buy it stand alone, but this is the better value!: https://www.carriemelissajones.com/launch-your-community-course).

Membership will be most valuable to you if you know you’re going to launch a community in the next few months and have a general idea of who you want to serve and what you/your business needs. You’ll access launch tools and resources, can ask your questions during coaching calls, and will learn from peers who have been through it.

  • Our events are always on weekdays from 7:30AM to 5 PM PT; however, we are always experimenting with new times!

We do our best to design our calendar to accommodate a variety of time zones, including our friends in the EU, Asia, Australia, and NZ. We’ll make calendar adjustments based on demand (and we welcome members to self-organize with our support!), and all events will be recorded and available to members at any time.

  • When you sign up, you can pay quarterly or annually.

If you are in a region outside North America, the UK, or Western Europe and need parity pricing, input the regional discount code upon sign-up (if you’re unsure if this applies to you, email info@carriemelissajones.com).

  • Besides the region-based parity pricing mentioned above, there are some scholarship and work-study opportunities.

We recognize the importance of building and maintaining a strong community, especially for those without institutional financial backing. We are committed to supporting you—and all community builders—as you do this vital work.

These scholarships and work-study opportunities are for you whether you are currently seeking work, are located in a region where the exchange rate/pay parity makes the US dollar-based program price inaccessible for you, or your professional development budget has been slashed (or never existed).

Apply for a scholarship or work-study position here.

  • Yes, you may cancel your membership at any time. Once you cancel, you will not be charged for the following quarter or year (depending on the option you chose at sign-up). The amount you have already paid cannot be refunded, but there is a 7-day trial so you can take a look around to ensure this is the right fit for you. Please contact info@carriemelissajones.com to inquire.
