To grow our business, we strategically transformed our primary DIY service from a one-time course program to an evergreen membership community. After three years of running a course-driven program, our members faced increasing friction points in member onboarding, navigation, and engagement. We needed to systematically update the user experience while preserving the valuable connections we'd built and growing our annual recurring membership revenue.

Using our tried-and-true tools, we strategically redefined our organization’s Community Compass, programming, and onboarding process. We included and involved existing members throughout the process to encourage buy-in and ongoing involvement.
In May 2024, we relaunched our community with a workshop and social media campaign that brought in 57 new paying members, of whom 40% remain active monthly. Our profit margin remains above 95% on this offering. Beyond the numbers, this high-margin revenue stream doubles as our most valuable customer intelligence channel, directly informing our research and strategies while bringing us authentic, meaningful connections with our customers and the next generation of community management talent.
